How are you today?
We hear this phrase so often it becomes automatic to say “fine” and leave it at that. But are we doing as well as we could be?
Personal Transformation in terms of mental health is so crucial. A recent study from the University of Chicago has determined happiness levels in America have dropped to an all-time low in the last year, with only 14% reporting they feel “happy.” This number is the lowest it has been in over 50 years.
Of course, recent years have shown there to be many challenges people are facing right now. Whatever the cause, our mental health is suffering, and it’s time for a transformation.
What can you do to optimize your mental health transformation?
Get Checked
If you’re struggling with cognitive processes, you might have a vitamin deficiency. Talking to your doctor is a great first step.
Build Relationships
We all need to connect with others.
Express Emotions
There’s nothing unhealthier than suppressing how you feel.
Be Assertive
Letting people walk all over you is a surefire way to cause depression. Learning to stand up for yourself builds a huge amount of confidence.
Take Breaks
When you push yourself constantly, you’re bound to break down.
Indulge Your Curiosity
Even brains need to be fed sometimes. Learning new things keeps your mind active.
Hydrate
Believe it or not, being dehydrated can affect your thought processes.
Journal
Working through how you’re feeling on paper is a powerful experience. It does much to help you process your day.
Eat Better
Junk food can make your brain sluggish and even cause depression. Try eating whole foods, making sure to get enough fruits and vegetables.
Find Your Calm
Meditating or finding other ways to practice mindfulness helps reduce anxiety.
Breathe Deep
When you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed, several deep breaths can make a huge difference.
Get Out More
Exercise benefits your mental health in huge ways, sending endorphins through your system, which help you to feel good.
Change Your Self-Talk
What you say to yourself can build up or tear down so easily. Keeping things positive can change your entire outlook.
Sleep
When you don’t get enough rest, it’s hard to feel good about yourself.
Cut Yourself Some Slack
We all have off days. Don’t beat yourself up about it when this happens.
Remember, everyone is different. Not everything on this list will work for you. The best way to approach this idea is to try everything and keep what works best for you. Also, you know yourself better than anyone. If you have something you can do which makes you feel strong and confident, don’t be afraid to make it part of your daily practice. You need to take care of yourself.
